  • In addition to the giants of digital online listening, the discotheques of Toulouse libraries have launched Disquovery, a tailor-made and free music recommendation service.

  • Users and non-users can solicit online proposals from Toulouse experts by proposing an artist, a genre or a song.

  • Proposals posted online and shared with all fans of musical discoveries.

Has each music lover his playlist?

In the age of online listening platforms like Spotify or Deezer, this is far from being often the case, with subscribers surfing the musical repertoires concocted by others or selected by the platform itself. even.

To get out of standardization and broaden his musical horizons, Eléonore Dumas, one of the discotheques of the Toulouse libraries, had an idea.

By giving a title, an artist or even a genre, the specialized team takes care of concocting a tailor-made playlist, far from the usual proposals.

Called Disquovery, this new free online music recommendation service is provided within 72 hours, by sending a simple form, offering “discovery”, “expert” or “amazing” formulas.

“With the health crisis, it was important to be of service to our users and to reach others as well.

It is a different offer from that of the platform algorithms and the response will also be different depending on the respondent, ”explains Cédric Doumenq, head of the service.

Not an inventory à la Prévert

It completes the Eurêkoi offer, formerly BiblioSésame, a remote question-and-answer service for several dozen librarians providing sound advice on literary as well as cinematographic questions.

Thanks to the expertise of the discotheques and the collections of the Toulouse library network, the team decided to complement the musical field with BibliOzik and its new Disquovery feature.

Launched ten days ago, this playlist option has already received around thirty playlist requests, all then offered in the form of a player, accessible from a computer, smartphone or tablet.

Internet users can thus discover African jazzmen, nuggets of old school rap or even the best songs to dance to the sound of pizzica.

A combo of talents off the beaten track in five to ten titles, without falling into an encyclopedic review of artistic productions.
