While some southern countries have not had a single drop of rain for months, France has been submerged in recent days.
"
The Flood,
" exclaims
Nord Éclair
.
"
Exceptional floods: the south-Gironde is struggling,
" says
Sud-Ouest
.
"
The Cotentin watered like never before
", notes
La Presse de la Manche
.
"
Why so much rain?
“Asks
Le Parisien
.
“
19 departments are today in orange vigilance, notes the newspaper, for risk of floods;
the Lot-et-Garonne turned red yesterday.
“Since last Thursday, we have been experiencing continuous precipitation which affects almost the entire territory, underlines this weather expert interviewed by
Le Parisien
. As the soils are saturated with water, they no longer have the capacity to absorb what falls from the sky. (…) Since the start of winter, it has fallen on average in France one and a half times the normal amount of rain ".
"
Newspaper commentary: “
These abundant precipitations worry us so much we now perceive in each climatic upheaval the proof of our harmful influence on the planet.
Man no longer suffers
(only) from
nature, he disrupts it.
And she takes revenge!
(…)
To stop this spiral
, continues
Le Parisien, we must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and curb rampant urban planning.
Easier said than done
(…).
"
The state condemned for its inaction in the fight against global warming
And what is the state doing for the climate?
Not much despite its promises ... Yesterday, the State was condemned for "
faulty deficiencies
" in the fight against global warming by the administrative court of Paris.
"
Justice recognizes for the first time, notes Le Monde, that the State has committed a
" fault "
by showing itself unable to keep its commitments to reduce greenhouse gases.
It is an understatement to say that this judgment gave satisfaction to environmental defense associations and their lawyers.
"
"
Two years after having collected more than 2 million signatures in less than a month - an unprecedented mobilization in France -, to denounce the
" climate inaction "
of the State,
" The affair of the century ",
grouping of 4 associations therefore obtained satisfaction, at least on the judicial level.
"
A battle but not the war ...
But what will that change?
"
It is a symbolic first step for climate justice in France
," replies
Liberation
.
For the time being, the state is ordered to pay 1 euro symbolic of non-pecuniary damage for each applicant association, or 4 euros in all.
It remains to be seen whether or not justice will order it to act concretely, that is to say to
"take any useful measure"
in order to stop the worsening of the ecological damage observed in the future.
Response in a little over two months, at the end of the additional investigation ordered yesterday by the judge.
"
What makes
La Voix du Nord say
: “
It looks like a victory, but it is actually a simple goal scored in a still long meeting.
"
The "
disappearance
" of Diary Sow: literary publicity stunt?
We come back to
Liberation
which lingered this morning on the Diary Sow affair, this brilliant Senegalese student who had disappeared at the beginning of January.
At first, we feared the worst.
Then we talked about a runaway.
And we knew later that the young woman had withdrawn.
Finally, Diary Sow made a public reappearance on Monday, through social media.
We see a video in which she is promoting her second novel: a book that tells the story of a disappearance ... And in this video, notes
Liberation
, not a word about her fugue which held Senegal (and the France) in suspense for a month.
Suddenly, the newspaper wonders: "
Diary Sow would she run away for promotional purposes, for the imminent release of his second novel?"
In Dakar, her first book with confidential sales before the young woman's disappearance is out of stock everywhere - in bookstores in the city center as well as at L'Harmattan, her publishing house.
In a recent interview, his publisher also said that sales of this first book had soared since January.
The publication of the second novel is therefore scheduled in the coming weeks
, point
Liberation.
Its title offers disturbing similarities with the course of the young woman: the masks fall.
