The organizers of Eurovision 2021 assure it: the competition will take place in May in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

It remains to be seen how.

Due to the health crisis, four scenarios had been considered so that that of 2020, an outright cancellation of the event, does not happen again.

The most optimistic was counting on a "normal" course, but given the current situation, it was completely ruled out on Wednesday.

In a statement released, the organization says it is focusing its efforts on scenario B, which involves taking social distancing into account.

Artists who are unable to make the trip to the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam should then record their performance, under live conditions, in a studio in their country.

The shows would take place either without an audience or with a limited number of spectators.

People holding tickets in the pit were, according to our information, warned on Wednesday that their tickets were canceled.

Scenario D, a confined Eurovision

In the event that there are travel restrictions, scenario C would then be considered.

None of the candidates, with the exception of the Dutch singer, would be present in Rotterdam.

They would record their respective performances in a studio in their country.

The trio in charge of the animation and the artists invited to perform in intermission would be very present in the Ahoy Arena.

The public could, in limited numbers, be allowed to come and applaud them if conditions allow.

The third and final scenario is the most pessimistic: that of a confined Eurovision.

In this case, the event would be held without an audience and the candidates' performances would be pre-recorded under live conditions.

"Virtual activities would be considered to explore the city of Rotterdam," the statement said.

The semi-finals are scheduled for May 18 and 20.

The final will take place on May 22 and will be broadcast live on France 2.
