Ukraine "stands with an outstretched hand", but at the same time proudly declares economic war on Nicaragua.

Having written this sentence, I stopped and began to frantically remember: had I drunk an extra hour yesterday and had I dreamed of something that was completely beyond reality?

I'm ready to report that everything is fine with me.

As usual, events on the Ukrainian political scene go beyond, if not reality, then common sense.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy bitterly complains in an interview with HBO TV about the unresponsiveness of the Western partners of official Kiev, who left Ukraine in the midst of an epidemic without a coronavirus vaccine.

And the Verkhovna Rada, meanwhile, is busy “solving the country's vital problems”: the introduction of economic sanctions against the Republic of Nicaragua for the fact that it has its own honorary consul in Crimea.

Why am I putting these two events side by side?

Because it only seems that there is no direct logical connection between them.

In fact, such a connection exists.

The infatuation of official Kiev with the “politics of gesture” is the main reason why modern Ukraine is increasingly unable to cope with its most important and painful problems.

The sanctions against Nicaragua, which the Ukrainian parliament has just imposed with great solemnity, are a prime example of such a "gesture policy."

According to the Kiev deputies, having received the news that Ukraine itself has declared them an economic boycott, the inhabitants of Nicaragua should, apparently, panic.

Like, what have we done with you guys?

What were we just thinking about ?!

No, obviously about something wrong!

We urgently need to change everything!

We must do whatever we want, but Ukraine must take pity on us and lift its economic sanctions!

We definitely won't live without it!

After rereading the previous paragraph, I found that it was only a stretch to call it funny.

Well, even the most "patriotic", the most dense, the most ignorant deputy of the Ukrainian parliament cannot seriously believe in such nonsense.

It is clear to anyone who is not in a state of delirium tremens: the Republic of Nicaragua is neither hot nor cold from the Ukrainian economic sanctions.

With exactly the same success, official Kiev could have declared that Ukraine and Nicaragua are at war.

It would also have absolutely no effect on anything.

The question arises: if the decisions of the Ukrainian parliament are de facto only a concussion of the air, then why do the Kiev people's representatives waste their precious time on them?

Let's try to use logic.

Usually people do nonsense when they simply do not have any useful activities.

The conclusion follows from this: all real problems in Ukraine have been successfully resolved long ago.

And, in order not to bend at all from idleness, the members of the Ukrainian parliament diligently "decorate the cake with a cherry."

Is it logical?

It is logical.

Is it true?

Contradicts her directly.

I will refer to the above-mentioned interview with President Vladimir Zelensky HBO.

The president was asked how the situation with the supply (or, rather, the lack of supplies) of the vaccine against coronavirus to Ukraine influenced the views of official Kiev on its relations with allies.

At first, Zelenskiy tried his best to remain within the framework of diplomatic politeness: “I contacted the leaders of those European states with which we have wonderful relations.

And they said that they would help us a little at the expense of their own vaccine supplies.

It will not be easy for them to explain this to their citizens.

But they will give us in small batches. "

But then the President of Ukraine still "burst through" and he said what he really thinks: "One way or another, it is very unpleasant for us to stand with an outstretched hand!"

That's right, Vladimir Alexandrovich, very unpleasant and very humiliating!

And the most unpleasant and humiliating thing about this “standing” is that there is no real need for it.

In case something is not reported to Zelensky, I inform the Ukrainian president: Russia is ready to supply Ukraine with its Sputnik vaccine.

Do you think that the head of the Ukrainian state is aware of it?

I honestly think so too.

And therefore, just in case, I ask one more naive question: if the president is inactive and, lamentably lamenting the Western media, allows his citizens to die, then maybe parliament will correct him?

Alas, it won't.

The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada is busy with "much more important matters" like the imposition of economic sanctions against Nicaragua.

And here is also Vladimir Zelensky imposed sanctions against three Ukrainian opposition TV channels.

However, "imposed sanctions" is in this case just a euphemism.

Imposing sanctions usually means imposing a fine, issuing a severe warning, and the like.

And the fan of speculating about democracy, European values, the rule of law and freedom of the media, Volodymyr Zelenskyy simply took and ordered to cut off the TV channels he did not like from the air.

Will the Ukrainian parliament correct this situation?

As they say, wait and see.

But I have no special illusions on this score.

The Ukrainian parliament only likes to solve virtual political problems.

To introduce economic sanctions against Nicaragua is yes, it is the Kiev deputies with pleasure.

But the Ukrainian people's representatives shy away from the real problems of their country like the devil from incense.
