  • Due to the effects of the health crisis on aeronautics, the equipment manufacturer Latécoère announces a PSE comprising 246 job cuts, against 475 initially.

  • The group activated the lever for long-term partial activity.

  • Threatened, the Labège cabling site, in the suburbs of Toulouse, is maintained.

The pear still has a bitter taste, but it has been cut in half.

After four months of negotiations, Latécoère, the legendary aeronautical equipment manufacturer, announces the elimination of 246 jobs in France.

In September, the Airbus subcontractor planned to cut 475 jobs (out of 1,500 in France) because of the consequences of the health crisis on air traffic.

But the figure has therefore been revised downwards thanks to state aid and mainly to the establishment of long-term partial activity (APLD).

The cabling activity, which is done in Labège, in the suburbs of Toulouse, was to lose 135 jobs.

"The APLD made it possible to remove them from the PSE," said Hervé Blanchard, the group's HRD.

Suddenly, the specialized site of Labège is no longer promised to close.

Voluntary departure plan

The APLD also applies to the aerostructures activity (fuselage sections, doors) where 246 positions will disappear, against the 345 initially planned.

"But out of these 246, there will be departures for reconversion or business creation", hopes Stéphane Faget, secretary of the Force Ouvrière union, signatory of the agreement with the CFE-CGC.

The CGT refused.

For her, the real problem is “the lower prices imposed by Airbus”.

Group management will launch a voluntary departure plan.

"Nothing is finished, we already have a hundred employees who are planning a voluntary departure", underlines Hervé Blanchard who appears "confident about the chances of leading to a minimum of layoffs".

Latécoère, which employed 5,200 people in 13 countries in 2019, has already cut 1,100 jobs abroad, mainly in the Czech Republic, Morocco, Brazil and Mexico.
