Recently, the monitoring staff of the Annanba Wild Camel National Nature Reserve Administration Bureau in Aksai County, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, found images of snow leopard activities in the reserve in the infrared camera while collating the infrared camera video photos.

Since May 2020, Gansu Annanba Wild Camel National Nature Reserve has increased its wildlife protection and monitoring efforts, and has successively deployed 40 infrared cameras at multiple monitoring points in the reserve to dynamically monitor wildlife activities and species.

The monitoring personnel found a large number of photos and videos of wildlife activities from the retrieved infrared cameras. In the monitoring screens, more than one adult snow leopard was found passing by the snow in front of the infrared camera. This is the first clear and complete snow leopard activity captured since the monitoring Pictures, these pictures show that snow leopard activities cover the Qilian Mountains and Altun Mountains in Aksai County.

It is understood that snow leopards are the flagship species for the protection of alpine ecosystems and Central Asian mountain ecosystems, and its protection effectiveness is directly related to the stability and integrity of the regional plateau ecosystem.
