According to the WeChat official account of the Beijing Third Intermediate People’s Court, on the morning of February 2, 2021, Beijing’s Third Intermediate People’s Court publicly sentenced Beijing Chaoyang Hospital in the case of injuries and doctors for intentional homicide. The defendant Cui Zhenguo was sentenced to death, suspended for two years, and deprived of political rights for life.
The court heard that: Defendant Cui Zhenguo had resentment towards Tao Yong and other medical doctors at Chaoyang Hospital because the effect of his eye treatment did not meet his expectations, and he was looking for revenge.
At about 13:50 on January 20, 2020, Cui Zhenguo entered the seventh floor of the outpatient building of Chaoyang Hospital with a kitchen knife prepared in advance. While the doctor Tao Yong who was examining the patient was unprepared, he hacked Tao Yong's back of his head and neck. Later, he continued to chase Tao Yong to other floors. In the process, he cut Tao Yong's arm and cut and wound the other three people who prevented him from committing.
According to Tao Yong's recovery from injury, the judicial appraisal agency issued an appraisal opinion on November 4, 2020, and Tao Yong's physical injury was severely injured.
In addition, it was identified that the physical injuries of the other three victims were Grade II minor injuries and two minor injuries.
The court held that the defendant Cui Zhenguo deliberately chopped at the vital parts of others with a knife for the purpose of illegally depriving others of their lives, causing one person to be seriously injured, one person slightly injured, and two persons slightly injured. His actions constituted the crime of intentional homicide.
Although this case was an attempted homicide, and Cui Zhenguo asked others to report to the police and waited at the scene after committing the crime, it can be regarded as surrendering, but considering that he blatantly chased the murderer with a knife in a public medical place with a large number of people, the method was cruel, and the consequences were particularly serious. The social impact is extremely bad, and the personal danger is so great that it is not enough to punish them lightly and should be severely punished in accordance with the law.
Based on the facts, nature of the crime and the degree of harm to society, the Beijing Third Intermediate People's Court made the above judgment.
