A derogatory work stoppage system has been put in place for people showing symptoms of the coronavirus.

In three weeks, the Health Insurance received 65,000 requests, a low figure which shows that the abuses are few.

The derogatory work stoppage system for people with symptoms of Covid-19, put in place three weeks ago, is causing little abuse.

According to Health Insurance, more than 65,000 claims have been filed, an average of 3,000 per day.

Proof according to her that this measure "meets a real need, but also that its use remains appropriate and legitimate", compared to some 30,000 daily stops compensated in 2019.

- Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Tuesday, February 2

Since January 10, it is possible to obtain online (declare.ameli.fr) sick leave "for immediate isolation, without waiting period", in the event that an employee experiences symptoms of Covid.

It is not necessary to go to a doctor, provided that a PCR screening test is performed within 48 hours.

If the test is negative, the employee must return to work and will no longer receive daily allowances.

30% of applicants tested positive

Moreover, "a little more than 30%" of applicants "had a positive test result", a rate "very clearly higher" than the 6% to 7% recorded at the national level, which confirms that the service "is well used by insured persons whose condition suggests contamination ".

Most are private sector employees (68%), but civil servants (16%) and health professionals (6%) also benefit from these "immediate" stops.

The average duration is 1.9 days, a period considered "consistent" with that of PCR tests, the results of which are very often returned in less than 24 hours.

To "avoid any misuse", the Health Insurance indicates that its medical service checks a hundred files every day and stresses that "less than 2% do not meet the criteria for compensation".
