We now know a little more about the fatal accident which took place on Saturday morning on the southern ring road of Lyon, and in which a car driving in the wrong direction was involved.

The two deceased persons, who were in this vehicle, resided in Villeurbanne.

They were a couple of octogenarians.

The two retirees were on their way to do their shopping in a supermarket in Vénissieux that they frequented regularly,

A U-turn operated on the exit ramp

On the morning of the tragedy, the driver, aged 87, would have taken the wrong route and decided to make a U-turn on the exit ramp, located at the level of the Porte de Gerland.

Less than a kilometer away, he allegedly crashed into a 4x4 aboard a young couple and their three-year-old child.

They miraculously got away with minor injuries.

At this point, another car, which was trying to avoid the accident, overturned.

Its driver was taken to hospital.
