When love turns to hate.

In

Sam Levinson's

Malcolm & Marie

, available on Netflix from Friday, Zendaya and John David Washington are a couple who will fight hard for an entire night.

The reason ?

He forgot to mention it in his thanks, when this director has just obtained his first big success by telling the story of the young woman.

It does not take more to trigger the drama.

“I wondered how we could hurt each other in a couple,” says Sam Levinson in the film's press kit.

The filmmaker was very loosely inspired by his own story, when he forgot to thank Ashley Levinson, his wife and producer, after a preview.

"It gave me to think about the importance of the couple, which of the two whose professional activity is a priority, the support we give each other, and what we feel when we have the impression that his efforts are not given due recognition.

"

In the intimacy of a couple

Shot on a California ranch in the midst of a pandemic for two weeks in the summer of 2020, the film took advantage of the draconian sanitary conditions imposed on the entire team.

Everyone lived in the production space without being able to leave it.

As the action was filmed at night in chronological order, the actors conserved their energy to give the viewer the impression of entering into their intimacy as a movie couple.

The flowery performances of the duo going from tenderness to fury in a flash are for a lot in the power of

Malcolm & Marie
