Hundreds of people came to say goodbye to him, including Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, artists Sergei Makovetsky, Alexander Oleshko, Bedros Kirkorov and many others.
Earlier it was reported that the facade of the theater building, where Lanovoy served for more than 60 years, was decorated with portraits in which he was depicted in his best theatrical roles.
Vasily Lanovoy died on 28 January at the age of 88.
