  • An indefinite strike is underway in the Toulouse operating theaters.

  • Nursing staff denounce their working conditions, which they believe is the cause of a hemorrhage in the workforce.

Beyond the negotiations around the “Ségur de la santé”, they are asking for indexes to be upgraded.

  • The management of the CHU indicates that it has already given right to some of their demands, in particular the status of hospital officials to contract workers and future hires.

“Before the health crisis, working conditions were already complicated, with waiting times for operations.

There, with the deprogramming during confinement, it got complicated, ”notes Grégory Chakir.

This nurse from the Toulouse University Hospital is the spokesperson for the Inter-Blocs collective, at the origin of an indefinite strike in the public blocks of Toulouse alongside the CGT.

For several days now, they have decided to voice their dissatisfaction with management.

And this Monday morning, they invaded the Hôtel-Dieu, where the headquarters of the CHU management is located.

Beyond better working conditions, they plead for a salary increase and the payment of certain bonuses which would, according to them, help to retain employees.

"There is a real hemorrhage of staff, they are fleeing the public service because there is no loyalty, everything is done to save money", continues the activist.

Salaries and hiring

Pending the negotiations of the "Ségur de la santé", the latter points in particular to the new hospital index subsidy.

It aims to promote jobs involving a particular responsibility or technical expertise, which is the case for block nurses.

If some hospitals have decided to benefit their teams, this is not the case with the Ville Rose.

"It is a difference in interpretation of the text, the ministry is seized by the human resources of the CHU to rule on the question", indicates Muriel Legendre, deputy director of the operating theater pole at the Toulouse University Hospital.

Last week, the management of the CHU had given right to some of their demands by now offering contract workers blocks and future hires to be as of their entry intern of the hospital public service.

For the time being, this concerns about thirty people already present, as well as about twenty recruitments to come.

Another advance: the opening to 18-month training courses for ten block employees each year.

"We are also working on working conditions, including logistics flows," assures Muriel Legendre who indicates that a working meeting with a delegation of strikers was proposed on Wednesday.
