This is the third time the festival has been postponed or canceled since the pandemic began.

The latest plan was for Coachella to be held in April this year.

In the last two months, however, the number of covid-19 infected and dead has increased sharply in Southern California and the decision not to conduct the festival has been made to the local authorities.

No new date

In addition to Coachella, the sister festival, the country show Stagecoach, which was also scheduled to be held in April, will also be canceled.

No new dates for the festivals have been announced.

Details of which artists were planned had not been announced by the organizers before the decision was made.

In April each year, around half a million music lovers gather at Empire Polo Fields in Indio in the California desert. Last year's Coachella festival was moved from April to October 2020, but could never be held.
