“When Zhu Di built the Forbidden City back then, the artisans came from all over the country, and the building materials, bricks, stones, tiles and woods also came from different places.” Liang Junjian said that the creative team went to Fengyang, Anhui, Suzhou, Jiangsu, Linqing, Shandong and other places to shoot, looking forward to telling the story beyond Beijing. The story of the Forbidden City.

"I hope to include the broader Chinese traditional culture represented by the Forbidden City in this film."

In August 2010, Liang Junjian, PhD student, and his teachers and classmates were invited to the Palace Museum for research. They spent more than 40 days with the craftsmen of the Ministry of Culture, Protection, Science and Technology, and accumulated a lot of first-hand materials.

2015 coincided with the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Museum. Liang Junjian, who has been on the campus to teach, led the Qingying Studio team to shoot "I Repair Cultural Relics in the Forbidden City".

After the broadcast, people saw a crowd of diligent new and old craftsmen behind the Forbidden City.

According to Liang Junjian, last year was 600 years after the construction of the Forbidden City, and the team got the opportunity to shoot new projects.

In order to continue the style of the previous work, "I repaired the Forbidden City in the Forbidden City" and "I repaired the house in the Forbidden City" and other topics first came to the eyes of the creators; ".

In the second episode of the new work, the Palace of Yangxin Palace, which has been "isolated" for five years due to repairs, welcomes "consultation" experts.

When the experts replaced the supporting spine of the main hall, a colorful painting of the Ming Dynasty emerged.

"The last time this painting was revealed was probably hundreds of years ago. This time it was'lost to see the sun' after replacing the spine. The next time I see the sun, it may take another hundred years." Close contact with the Forbidden City, like " There have been many moments when "the ancient paintings are exposed" which gave Liang Junjian the illusion of "traversing".

He said that there are very important historical traditions in Chinese history, such as the novels and operas of the Ming and Qing dynasties that give future generations a yearning for ancient times.

In the new film, the craftsmen unloaded the wall tiles and accidentally found a playbook from a hundred years ago. Such a legendary story left many reveries for the viewers.

"We often make jokes. When Americans talk about crossing, they will travel to the future. Most of China’s literary and artistic works about crossing return to history. This is the national cultural gene that affects us. Chinese people naturally like to look back and learn wisdom and search from it. Life experience." Liang Junjian believes that history can make Chinese people feel the continuation of time strongly, bring stability to everyone, and "rooted" to provide individuals with a sense of security.

In 2019, the number of visitors to the Palace Museum exceeded 19 million for the first time. Last year, the number of visitors fell sharply due to the epidemic.

However, the attraction of the Forbidden City has not diminished at all. The first live broadcast in 2020 attracted nearly 35 million people to watch online.

The staff of the Palace Museum told Liang Junjian that in the past, only a few dozen people signed up when recruiting, and now tens of thousands of people submit resumes every year.

"It is the charm of the Forbidden City itself that attracts more and more young people." Liang Junjian believes that the powerful force of the Forbidden City itself has something to do with the cultural self-confidence and cultural innovation that the country has continuously emphasized and valued over the years.

Young people can see the value of the Forbidden City and realize that "something as old as it turns out can be very trendy."
