It will be the Spring Festival of the Year of the Ox in more than a week. Many citizens have started big purchases for the New Year. Major vegetable farms and supermarkets in Shanghai have made preparations to ensure adequate supply of staple and non-staple foods, abundant varieties and stable prices during the festival.

On February 1, at the Cola Farmers’ Market on Fuquan Road in Shanghai, citizens were shopping for food. The business operators also used the noon break to start a live webcast.

The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce stated that during the Spring Festival, 95% of Shanghai's vegetable markets will be opened, with a stall rate of over 88%.

All retail terminals will also flexibly arrange employee vacations to ensure the normal supply of main and non-staple food during the holiday season.
