France has recorded nearly 20,000 new cases of Covid-19 in twenty-four hours, while hospitalizations and resuscitations are on the rise, according to official figures released on Sunday.

The government site gathering data relating to Covid-19 reports 19,235 new contaminations.

The test positivity rate was not available on Sunday evening.

Intensive care admissions on the rise

On Sunday, 27,573 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized (+331 compared to the day before), including 816 new admissions in twenty-four hours, according to data from Public Health France.

And 3,148 Covid-19 patients are in intensive care or intensive care, a figure also on the increase (+45), with 148 new admissions.

In addition, 195 deaths were recorded in the hospital in twenty-four hours, a total of more than 76,000 deaths since the start of the epidemic.

Four weeks after the start of vaccination in France, nearly 1.48 million people received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Among them, about 45,000 had received the two doses on Saturday evening, according to Public Health France, which gives these figures with a day of delay.

Despite an epidemic situation deemed "worrying", the government decided on Friday evening to play a last card to avoid a third confinement, by strengthening several restrictive measures.
