Yoon Yeo-jeong of the movie'Minari' was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Academy (Oscar) Awards held in April.



American entertainment media Variety said, "Yeo-jung Yoon, who plays the role of a lovely grandmother in'Minari', is ahead of the critics' awards," in an article predicting the winners of the Academy.



Until recently, Yoon Yeo-jung has won 20 crowns at the US Critics Awards.



Variety reported, "If Yun Yeo-jung wins, he will be the second Asian actor to receive the Best Supporting Actress Award after Miyoshi Umeki in Sayonara in 1957."



It is the fourth time after Miyoshi Umeki, Shore Agdashulu (House of Sand and Fog) and Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.



'Minari' is based on the autobiographical experience of Korean-American director Lee Isaac Jeong, and drew the story of a Korean family who moved to Arkansas in the 1980s.



Yoon Yeo-jung played the role of Sunja, a grandmother from Korea to help the couple of J.Cup (Steven Yeon) and Monica (Yeri Han).



In addition to the Best Supporting Actor Award,'Buttercup' is ranked at the top in major categories such as the Best Supporting Actor Award, 3rd for Best Actor Award, and 5th for Best Actor Award.
