The day before yesterday, with great participation and strong competition, the qualifying rounds for the fourteenth edition of the chard championship, organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, began in the Al Marmoom squares in Dubai, as part of its efforts to support and promote all kinds of heritage and popular sports.

The qualifying rounds began with the establishment of amateur runs for female climax on the first day, in which the distance of each run was extended to 2,500 meters by four runs, while the amateur runs for male boiling were held yesterday for the same distance and the same number of runs, provided that the qualifying rounds for the professional category of male and female climax will be held today. 2500 meters by six runs, three runs each, and tomorrow, Monday, the qualifying rounds will be held in the professional category for male and female boiling for the Arab breed for a distance of 1000 meters, by six runs, three each.

Suad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of the Championships Department at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the participants, who were keen to train and fully prepare, which was reflected in the level of strong competitions in the qualifiers, and said: The most prominent phenomenon is the increasing turnout of the young generation, and we are in The center considers that motivating the young generation to participate and adopting traditional sports in general and sporting in particular are among the strategic goals that we seek to achieve, and to provide the necessary means in order to provide them with participation.

And she continued: The current version is witnessing modifications in order to take into account the precautionary measures, by increasing the number of qualifying days to distribute the number of participants more often.

She concluded: The finals will take place about 18 to 20 days after the end of the qualifiers, and we expect strong competition to be on the podium.

Keen to exist

Saif Taj Al Balushi, one of the permanent participants in the competitions, expressed his appreciation for all the services and facilities provided by the organizing committee, and said: I have been keen to exist for six years, and I learned the sport of boiling from my brothers, and I am currently teaching it to those who are younger than me, to preserve this sport Beautiful heritage.

He continued: There is a group of young people who are interested in this sport, and there are other types of traditional sports, such as: falcons, camels and others, in general we have about 10 chard that we take care of to participate in races or production, and it is a hobby that I have become permanently attached to.

Quantum leap

Khalifa Al-Matroushi said that, thanks to his friend Saif Al-Balushi, he learned this sport and became keen to participate in it annually, adding: “I do not miss the opportunity, and I always strive to compete in boating championships and achieve advanced positions, and there is a qualitative leap in these races and their establishment in various regions of the country, Finally, in support of this heritage sport ».
