The Leipzig Book Fair is canceled again due to the corona pandemic.

According to dpa information, a digital version is being prepared for a reading festival instead.

The MDR had previously reported.

The book fair was canceled last spring due to Corona.

For this year, the Leipziger Messe had actually wanted to save the book industry's spring show - and pushed the date from March to the end of May.

In the warmer days, so it is hoped, a trade fair could be possible again with the use of outdoor areas.

But now it is clear: the pandemic situation does not allow a large public event again.

The Leipzig Book Fair actually always takes place in March.

The last event before the onset of the crisis saw 286,000 visitors at the trade fair and reading festival in 2019.
