A large-scale pandemic study by the University of Mainz has resulted in a significantly increased willingness to vaccinate in the population as an interim result.

Study leader Professor Philipp Wild presented the numbers in Mainz on Friday.

The willingness to vaccinate has increased significantly in the past four months - to around 85 percent.

When it comes to the distance, 47.5 percent stated that they would almost always keep it - 90.7 percent when wearing mouth-nose protection.

The results are based on responses and data from up to 5,466 people aged 44 to 84 years.

Since October 2020, research teams from the University of Medicine have been investigating how the corona pandemic and the measures taken affect the health of around 10,000 people in Rheinhessen in one of the largest population studies in Germany.

The study notes that the self-assessment shows that the population is physically and mentally stressed.

“So far, the lockdown does not seem to have a strong effect on fears and sadness.” According to the study, a minority of respondents of a good four percent have a strong affection for conspiracies in the pandemic.
