Vendée Globe: Yannick Bestaven, winner of the 9th edition, Hermann suddenly lost his hopes of

For his second participation in the Vendée Globe, Yannick Bestaven (Maître Coq IV) won the legendary race around the world.

He crossed the finish line in third position at 4:19 am last night, but thanks to a compensation (of 10 hours 15 minutes) obtained because he had diverted to come to the aid of Kevin Escoffier end November, he was finally declared the winner.

At 8:50 p.m., however, the world collapsed around Boris Herrmann.

While he could still hope to win the race around the world thanks to the six hours of bonuses available to him for having taken part in the rescue operations for Kevin Escoffier, the skipper lost everything 90 miles from the finish line.

Indeed, his boat (SeaExplorer-Yacht Club de Monaco) collided with a trawler.

No one was injured in the collision, but his IMOCA was seriously damaged.

The skippers are gradually arriving in Les Sables d'Olonne, follow our live with our journalist, David Phelippeau, on site.

Saint-Nazaire: The takeover of Chantiers de l'Atlantique by the Italian Fincantieri

The project to buy Chantiers de l'Atlantique by its Italian competitor Ficantieri, which began three years ago, had been in the dark in recent months.

It is, this time, definitively abandoned, announced this Wednesday evening Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance, in agreement with the Italian government.

“The tourism sector is currently facing an unprecedented level of economic uncertainty, due to the Covid-19 crisis, which does not allow the operation to continue,” Bercy explains.
