  • Olivier Véran announced on Thursday the probable resumption of interregional patient transfers to relieve certain regions.

  • Two patients in intensive care have already been transferred from Nice to Vannes on Thursday.

  • Relatively spared by the epidemic, Brittany has already received dozens of patients from other regions during the first two waves.

Olivier Véran announced it this Thursday afternoon.

"We are not very far from once again considering making the first interregional patient transfers to relieve certain regions," he said during a press briefing on the health situation.

These transfers have even already started this Thursday.

Two Covid-19 patients hospitalized in intensive care in Nice were indeed transferred this Thursday to Vannes hospital, we learned from the Brittany Regional Health Agency.

Due to weather conditions, the medical plane transporting them had to land at Rennes airport.

An ambulance then took care of the patients who joined the intensive care unit of the Bretagne Atlantique hospital in Vannes.

Other transfers of patients between the south and Brittany could take place in the coming days.

Nice patients already transferred to Marseille and Antibes

"When we welcome, it means that we can accommodate, this is not done to the detriment of patients in the region," indicate the health authorities.

During the first two waves, Brittany had already received dozens of patients, particularly from Ile-de-France as well as from the south and east of France.

To avoid the saturation of intensive care services in the Alpes-Maritimes, a department particularly affected by the coronavirus epidemic, patient transfers have already taken place in recent days to hospitals in Marseille, Antibes and Grasse.

According to the latest report from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Health Agency published this Thursday, 84 people were hospitalized in intensive care in hospitals in the Alpes-Maritimes.
