As the construction to move the Metropolitan Expressway passing over Tokyo Nihonbashi to the underground is about to begin in earnest, some entrances and exits will be abolished in May.

It has been decided that 1.1 km of the section of the Metropolitan Expressway Inner Circular Route that passes over Nihonbashi will be moved underground due to aging roads and improved landscapes.

Some construction work has progressed underground since November last year, and construction work such as tunnel construction will begin in earnest in the future.

Prior to the series of construction work, it has been decided that the two entrances to Edo Bridge and Gofuku Bridge will be abolished, and it will not be possible to enter or exit from midnight on May 10.

The Metropolitan Expressway calls for people to use nearby doorways such as Kanda Bridge and Takaramachi when going around Tokyo Station and Nihonbashi.

After the abolition of the two entrances, the excavation work of the tunnel is scheduled to start after removing the nearby piers, which means that the new road is aiming to open in 2035.
