NITE = Product Evaluation Technology Infrastructure Organization is calling attention to follow correct usage, saying that there are a series of fatal accidents in winter such as accidents during snow removal and carbon monoxide poisoning caused by heating appliances.

According to NITE, there were 224 product accidents due to snow and freezing in winter, of which 19 were fatal accidents in the 10 years until March last year, all of which were related to snowplows. is.

In some cases, when using the snowplow, the safety device that automatically stops when you take your hand off the steering wheel was not activated, so you died under the snowplow.

Also, according to NITE, it is necessary to be careful about accidents caused by carbon monoxide poisoning in heating appliances that are often used in winter.

Of these, carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a small portable generator has caused fatal accidents in the past, so NITE has released an experimental video.

In the experiment, a small generator was operated in an environment assuming a normal room.

Then, when the concentration of carbon monoxide was measured at the height near the face of the person sitting on the chair, it exceeded the concentration at which headaches occur after about one and a half minutes, and there is a risk of losing consciousness after about six minutes. It means that the concentration has been exceeded.

▽ When using a snowplow, check the surrounding conditions and use the safety device correctly.

▽ Small portable generators have poor ventilation not only indoors but also in cars and tents. We are calling for caution, such as never using it in places.
