Wednesday noon, Christophe Wilson, owner of the restaurant Le Poppies, in the center of Nice, served illegally, without masks or sanitary measures, a hundred customers as a sign of "civil disobedience".

Summoned to the central police station in Nice on Wednesday afternoon, the restaurateur ended up in police custody for the employment of an illegal alien.

The latter was placed in detention and then released with an obligation to leave the territory within one month.

As for Christophe Wilson, his police custody will be lifted this Thursday "in the afternoon",

He will be "summoned before a delegate of the prosecutor for a reminder to the law for recourse to a foreigner without title", specified Xavier Bonhomme.

An act of "resistance"

A #LiberezChristophe hashtag quickly spread on Twitter with nearly 10,000 uses in a few hours.

A dozen people even met Thursday morning in front of the Auvare police station to "demonstrate" and demand the release of Christophe Wilson.

The restaurateur had informed his circle of friends for “two, three days” of the act of “resistance” he was preparing.

About fifty people had then reserved and were waiting from 11:30 am in front of the brasserie to take a seat on its covered terrace.

After a passage of the police, the restaurateur had still managed to do two services, offering stewed gnocchi and red lentils for nearly a hundred people in the end.
