It's January.

A year ago, everything was on fire in China, planes with infected tourists were flying around the world, and we all watched the intro to the film "28 Days Later".

In the media, hypotheses that did not come true later appeared that the coronavirus is a purely Asian thing, that it is not afraid of the northern countries and that Russian vodka in general, General Moroz and his adjutant Maybe will protect us from the invisible basso.

Then it hurt immediately and everywhere: from Tokyo to San Francisco and from the Cape of Good Hope to Spitsbergen.

In some places, a very chaotic work of state bodies and epidemiological services began to save civilization.

Well, we - journalists, columnists and other feather masters - followed the news, discussed trends, analyzed charts and called friends in the USA, Italy, England, Germany with questions, "How are you holding up there?"

and "How bad are you?"

At the same time, we found out that we have not only our own General Moroz, but also our own saboteur Skepsis.

Many Russians were waiting for the collapse of our healthcare and did not believe in the very possibility of our scientists developing an effective vaccine.

No one stuttered at all that business support measures can be reasonable and accurate!

Yes, there were mistakes - what is the only decision to compensate for the costs of food delivery to catering establishments, if these costs do not exceed 20% of the order value.

It quickly became clear that aggregators took 35%.

But this was not sadism - just the financiers among our officials turned on only half of their calculator and quickly corrected themselves.

In Europe and the Americas, everything happened plus or minus the same way.

Lockdowns, passes, "communication bubbles", fines for those who have completely lost their shores.

Last spring, Angela Merkel said that 70% of German citizens would become infected, collective immunity would be developed and only then the problem would be solved.

A year later, she talks about ... a ban on internal travel.

What has the federal government been doing all this year, since the threat is now perceived with exactly the same acuteness?

Israel has massively vaccinated elderly citizens and moved to those who are younger.

I am not talking about the fact that 90% of vaccine stocks have been bought up by rich countries (this is another topic), but Israel has succeeded here too.

Against this background (there is, however, still an internal political struggle) announced ... total self-isolation of the state from the outside world.

In London, Boris Johnson firmly promises to return to their homes those who ... decided to fly to another country.

In the United States, it has already been said that it will not be possible to solve the problem of vaccination of the population and reverse the trend of an increase in the number of patients until the end of 2021.

Against this background, in our so dysfunctional, in the opinion of some (we will not point fingers) people, the country is undergoing an utter thaw.

In Moscow, the number of free covid beds is 50%!

Yes, this bed fund was created ahead of schedule and with a large margin, but still ...

Employees of all spheres are allowed to return from a distance 100%.

Cinemas have doubled the allowed limit on ticket sales - now to 50% of the maximum.

All children returned to classes.

Do you know what I want against this background?

So that we a) do not relax, because we can put all the recent achievements down the drain with our irresponsible behavior, and b) respect and pride ourselves on how much we have done to make all these steps to a normal life possible.

And, of course, we must sympathize with our neighbors and partners, wishing them to sort out the problems as soon as possible.

Yes, not everyone is so lucky with the anti-crisis state administration (and this is not a joke or a program message - this is a medical fact).

Yes, we're lucky.

So let us rejoice when we have every reason for this.
