Since the start of the corona vaccinations almost a month ago, 1146 vaccination doses could no longer be used in Bavaria due to transport errors.

This emerges from a response from the Ministry of Health to a request from the SPD in the state parliament.

"Vaccine against Covid-19 viruses is in great demand and in short supply," said MP Volkmar Halib on Thursday, according to the announcement.

It does not fit into the picture that 1146 vaccine doses have to be thrown away due to errors in storage or transport.

In the inquiry, the ministry named interruptions in the cold chain during transport, storage at the wrong temperature, power outages or storage in the freezer as reasons for the loss of vaccination doses.

Despite the falling number of new corona infections in many European countries, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) it is still too early to relax restrictions.

In 30 of 53 European countries, "a significant decrease" in the 14-day incidence can be seen, said WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge in Copenhagen on Thursday.

"But transmission rates are still too high to stress health and other related areas, so it would be too early to relax."
