An ephemeral channel to bring culture to life!

While all cultural venues are closed due to the health crisis, France Televisions announced on Friday the launch in early February of a channel entirely dedicated to culture, called Culturebox, as well as the digital cultural offer of the public audiovisual group.

Available on the france.tv platform, Culturebox, ready to start on February 1, is just waiting for the green light from the CSA for the allocation of a channel on TNT.

"I hope on channel 19 released following the stop of France Ô", slipped Delphine Ernotte to

Figaro.

Culturebox will cease as soon as the theaters reopen, assures the boss of the public group.

Created in ten days, the Culturebox program schedule is not yet fully finalized, but we already have an idea of what the channel will offer.

A live show every night

Culturebox, broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without advertising, at an estimated cost of five million euros fully borne by France Télévisions, will offer a live show every evening.

"Each evening will be devoted to a different art: you will have opera, then the day after urban music, there will be theater, ballet", detailed Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, director of antennas and programs in France Televisions on Tuesday at Culture Médias microphone this Tuesday.

“We are in the process of putting together recordings that will be really dedicated: the idea is that every Saturday there is a concert, which is really dedicated and linked to Culturebox.

There must be at least one new per week, if not two, ”continues Michel Field, director of the group's culture department, on France Info.

The channel will also offer previews “of theater or opera performances which were intended for broadcast on linear channels”, continues Michel Field.

Cultural programs during the day

The afternoons on the air will be devoted to reruns of shows, magazines and cultural programs from France Télévisions such as

La Grande librairie

, le

Grand Chiquier

,

Symphonissime

or

Prodiges

.

"A Culturebox day, it's pretty funny to think about it, it's an inverted TV grid, that is to say that we will put in prime time what we usually put rather a little late the evening.

What usually attracts the most audience will be posted during the day, ”explains Michel Field, director of the group's culture department, to our colleagues at France Info.

A daily program, hosted by Daphné Bürki and Raphaël Yem

Culturebox will launch a daily program, entitled

Culturebox the show

, hosted by Daphné Bürki and Raphaël Yem and broadcast from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The animators “will invite all the artists directly to the stage to discuss, to do live, to present their creations during confinement, etc.

», Explains Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez.
