SNCF wants to show its customers that the train is an ecological solution for getting around.
To do this, she presented an awareness program on Tuesday.
As a reminder, the train is the most environmentally friendly mode of transport: it weighs 0.6% of the sector's emissions and carries 10% of passengers.
According to Alain Krakovitch, general manager of Voyages SNCF, the company has not highlighted these figures enough.
He added that "the train is currently the only way to travel while preserving the planet".
The objective is therefore to “educate” users and encourage them to choose the train “in all conscience” and “with pride”.
When you travel by @TGVINOUI, @OUIGO or @INTERCITES, your carbon impact is 50x lower than if you travel by car!

A “TGV of the future” that consumes less energy and is recyclable
The managing director added that SNCF would make sure to further reduce its environmental footprint.
This is the “Planète Voyages” program, sponsored by the navigator François Gabart.
First of all, its agents will be made aware in order to "carry this ecological message".
More concretely, they will be trained in “eco-driving”;
cut off electric traction when the train can continue in its tracks or promote “eco-parking” to save on air conditioning.
As for the energies used, Alain Krakovitch underlined that the future TGV M will be 20% less energy intensive than previous generations.
It will also be 97% recyclable.
This “TGV of the future” is expected in 2024. By 2030, the group wants to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30%.
