A 76-year-old RN Normandy regional adviser was indicted on Friday for repeatedly raping his 12-year-old daughter-in-law.

He was referred this Friday to the criminal investigation center in Coutances (Manche).

He is being prosecuted for "rape (and attempts) on a 15-year-old minor by a person with authority over the victim as well as for sexual assault imposed on a fifteen-year-old minor," said the prosecutor.

This is Robert Retout, regional elected and former municipal councilor of Valognes (Manche), confirmed Nicolas Bay, the president of the group Rassemblement national.

The septuagenarian partially admitted the facts during his custody.

He was suspended from the movement as well as from the group to the regional council, said Nicolas Bay.

A report from the school

It was the child's school, located in Valognes, which had made a report in January for suspected sexual assault.

It had been transmitted to the prosecutor's office in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and the gendarmerie had carried out the investigation.

The prosecutor said in a statement that the girl had recounted having suffered "regularly and for nearly a year of sexual acts committed by her stepfather".
