The Senate, dominated by the right-wing opposition, gave the green light Wednesday evening to an extension of the state of health emergency, in the face of the coronavirus epidemic, until May 3.

Or one month less than the deadline voted by the National Assembly.

The upper house voted at first reading, by 235 votes in favor and 39 against, the bill once again extending the state of health emergency, an exceptional regime whose application was to end on February 16.
