The group stage of CHAN 2020 ended on Wednesday January 27 with the third day of Pool D. Guinea and Zambia join Mali, Cameroon, DR Congo, Congo, Morocco and Rwanda for the quarter-finals.

Tonight, Zambia faced Namibia, already eliminated, and Guinea crossed swords at the Reunification Stadium in Douala with Tanzania.

Zambians and Guineans could settle for a draw to pass.

During the first two days, Guinea had swept Namibia (3-0) before being joined on the wire by Zambia (1-1), which had stopped its qualification in the second match.

Tanzania, - absent from the four previous editions of CHAN -, after a defeat against Zambia (2-0) and a small victory against Namibia, absolutely had to win.

After Gnagna Barry opened the scoring from the penalty spot (4th), Majogoro equalized with a superb strike in the 23rd minute.

At the break, Guinea held its qualification.

Back from the locker room, Tanzania took the lead thanks to a header from Edward Manyama from a corner (69th).

But Guinea returned to the game in the last ten minutes to snatch its qualification with a header Victor Kantabadouna and finish at the top of the group (82nd).

Guinea will challenge Rwanda.

For its part, Zambia, quarter-finalist in the two previous editions, had every intention of performing well at the Limbe Omnisports stadium against Namibians who had nothing more to play.

Finally, the two teams parted with a draw (0-0).

The Chipolopolo will face Morocco.
