The coronavirus crisis has made it clear: Cuba is an aging country.

More than 20% of the population is over 60 years old and life expectancy, despite a precarious economic situation, is comparable to that of a developed country.

In contrast, the birth rate is low, and in 2020 Cuba recorded 6,000 more deaths than births.
