From

Goldorak

to

Evangelion

, the Japanese fascination with giant robots is well known in France.

However, it took a long time to see land the masterpiece of the genre, the

Gundam

saga

.

The error is being fixed with the editing work of the many series and films at @Anime, the opening of shops dedicated to Gunpla models or the passage of its creator Yoshiyuki Tomino at Japan Expo.

But a stone was missing, where it all began, the first series of 1979. However, it is the surprise announcement of Monday, it arrives in VOST on the Crunchyroll platform.

The first ten episodes, out of 43, are already available, and the rest will follow in waves of ten.

A Grail for the growing number of fans

In the year 0079 of the Universal Century, the space colonies of the Duchy of Zeon claim their independence and attack the Terran Federation with a new prototype weapon, the Mobile Suit.

This intergalactic war is also the one, more personal, between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable (read Charles Aznavour, yes it's a tribute), such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Giant robots, geopolitical plots, fascination with weapons, tragic characters…

Gundam

is a work of infinite richness, as evidenced by these various sequels, derivatives, incarnations for forty years.

The 1979 series was also visible in France with the compilation of three films at @ Anime (already a success), but seeing it again in its original and full version is a Holy Grail for fans.
