  • At HCL, hospitalizations have increased slightly over the past week, but sheave admissions remain stable.

  • While the introduction of the 6 p.m. curfew has not yet produced an effect in hospitals, the Covid-19 monitoring indicators are not tending towards an epidemic rebound either.

The situation remains worrying but not alarming at the CHU de Lyon.

For the fifth week in a row, the monitoring indicators for the coronavirus epidemic have hardly changed according to the last point released this Tuesday by the Hospices Civils de Lyon.

As of January 25, the number of Covid patients and hospitalized at HCL stands at 333, 22 more than a week ago.

A level similar to that observed between Christmas and New Year's Day.

In intensive care, the figures are stable, with 74 patients treated to date as of January 14, according to the CHU de Lyon.

In these departments, however, tension remains high since the occupancy rate exceeds 95%, with 182 beds open.

A situation which is explained in particular by the fact that the number of places in sheaves, which amounted to 277 during the epidemic peak in mid-November, has gradually decreased as the hospital pressure is reduced.

Among the patients admitted to intensive care, the proportion of Covid patients is also stable (42.2%).

The incidence rate still on the rise

At a time when the hypothesis of a third confinement is being considered by the Elysee Palace in the face of a resurgence of the epidemic linked, in particular, to the British variant, the study of these indicators alone is not enough.

Because if the hospital activity remains almost stable in the metropolis, the "curfew effect" expected by the authorities to avoid new more drastic measures is not yet felt.

An important indicator for measuring the circulation of the virus within the population, the incidence rate is even continuing to increase, slowly but surely, in the territory.

On the sliding week of January 16 to 22, it is indeed 231.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants against 194.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants the first week of January.

At the height of the second wave, in November, this rate exceeded 930 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and 837 Covid + patients were hospitalized in HCLs, including 172 in intensive care.
