These cries of indignation are those of young Peruvians who came to demonstrate, during the international day for the elimination of violence against women, on November 25, 2020 in Lima.

In 2020, Peru recorded more than 200,000 complaints for personal violence, 90% of which concern women victims of rape, disappearances and feminicides ... During the three and a half months of confinement, this violence has been up to twenty times higher than in previous years.

If these figures are alarming, the pandemic has only accentuated a phenomenon already well anchored in Peruvian society, a traditional society still very macho and patriarchal.
