Starting in the early morning of January 23, Urumqi, Xinjiang, experienced the strongest snowfall this winter, and blizzards occurred in the main urban area, setting a single-day snowfall limit in January.

  According to the monitoring of the Urumqi Meteorological Observatory, as of 19:00 on January 23, the snowfall in the main urban area was 17 millimeters, reaching the blizzard level, and the new snow cover was 19 centimeters.

This is not only the strongest snowfall since this winter, but also broke the single-day snowfall extreme value during the same period in January.

The previous maximum snowfall in January was 15.9 mm on January 27, 1990.
