Fukui Prefecture announced on the 24th that four men and women in Awara, Sakai and Fukui were newly infected with the new coronavirus.
In addition, one woman in her 80s who was hospitalized died.
The total number of infected people in Fukui Prefecture is 480.
The prefecture will issue an "infection spread warning" until the 7th of next month, calling for thorough countermeasures.
