In Chiba Prefecture, a highly lethal highly pathogenic avian influenza virus of "H5N8 type" was detected in avian influenza raised on a farm in Yokoshiba Mitsumachi, and as a result of proceeding with inspections of surrounding farms, It was confirmed that a highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was newly detected in the duck on the farm in the neighboring city of Sosa.



In response to this, the prefecture announced on the 24th that it has proceeded with the culling of about 5,400 ducks that had been bred on two farms, one in Sosa City and the other related farms.



Chiba Prefecture will continue to place these farms in a "restricted movement area" that prohibits the movement of ducks, chickens and eggs within a radius of 3 km, and prohibits the export of duck, chickens and eggs within a radius of 10 km from that area. It is designated as a "restricted export area".
