[On-site synchronization + commentary] Cai Yongbin, 34, is an information barrier-free engineer with more than 10 years of software development experience in Dongguan.

At the age of 6, Cai Yongbin was almost blind in both eyes because he accidentally poured lime on his head. Until now, he can only see a faint light.

Then I had an operation in 2018 and my vision was restored to almost 0.2. However, it was also because the donor cornea did not match me, and gradually rejected. Now the vision is gradually declining, and it is estimated that it will not reach 0.05. .

[Explanation] From light to darkness, Cai Yongbin did not complain about himself, but became more and more tossing.

Playing chess, skiing, guitar...he can do everything.

What makes him most proud is that he has learned to program and changed from a player to a senior expert.

I have tried music in the past, but I can’t get it through, because I think I still have to be talented. As for the computer, I am doing and discovering. It turns out that this thing not only helps me, I learn more, and realize more. Many, find a job, and even find your own life value, it can also help many people like me.

[Commentary] Cai Yongbin told reporters that he was only 15 years old when he made up his mind to learn programming by himself.

Being invisible to the eyes, Cai Yongbin often tears off the purchased tutorials and scans them into electronic documents, so that the computer screen reading software can read them word by word.

However, due to limited knowledge, he also made many detours.

I have been studying for three years from elementary school to junior high school, so I use my existing knowledge to learn programming. Many examples are not understandable. For example, it uses some functions in mathematics, some calculation formulas, listen to I haven't heard of it, what to do, then I can only memorize it. After memorizing it, I keep thinking about it. I think about it all the time. If I think about it and use it, it will naturally work.

[Explanation] After hundreds of failures, Cai Yongbin finally entered the door.

In 2009, Cai Yongbin independently developed the "PC Secretary" Internet access assistant software for blind people. This software allows the visually impaired to quickly search for news and check the weather on the computer.

This software has also helped many friends with visual impairments. Until now, accessibility has reached a certain level. However, this software is still highly dependent, because they feel that accessibility is one thing, and efficiency can be improved. Going up is another matter.

[Explanation] In 2018, Cai Yongbin quit his job and started his own business. Not only did he develop his own programs, he also helped the company transform its products so that the visually impaired could also use it.

Up to now, Cai Yongbin's team has provided information accessibility testing services for companies such as Tencent, Baidu, Alibaba, and Kugou, allowing nearly 2 million visually impaired people to shop online, order takeaways and take taxis.

We still hope that visually impaired users, whether they are visually impaired or other disabled people, can use the same software as everyone else. For example, if you take out your mobile phone and listen to music, you can use Kugou or QQ music. , Or just use other platforms, but as the visually impaired, we also hope to use the same things as you, and don’t want to be treated specially.

[Explanation] Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China announced that it will carry out a one-year "Special Action for Internet Application Ageing and Accessibility Improvement" from January 2021, focusing on solving special groups such as the elderly and the disabled when using the Internet and other intelligent technologies. For the difficulties encountered, the first batch will give priority to promoting 115 websites in 8 categories and 43 apps in 6 categories for ageing and barrier-free transformation.

In response, Cai Yongbin expressed his expectation.

Because the future of my ideal state is that there is no difference (between people). At that time, it doesn’t matter whether the eyes (sight) or not. It’s the same state, because I always believe that technology can really compensate for all human bodies. Some abilities that are not available.
