Hakodate City, Hokkaido, announced that 15 new people have been confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
The city also announced that one person had died, whose age, gender, and date of death were undisclosed.
This brings the total number of infected people in Hokkaido to 16,593, of which 566 have died.
