On January 24, 1901, the Soviet director and screenwriter, People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Romm was born. From a young age, he gravitated towards art: he was engaged in sculpture, staged performances in an amateur theater, composed stories and plays. In the late 1920s, Romm became interested in cinema and began writing scripts, and in 1934 he released his first film, Pyshka. In subsequent years, the director shot a number of films that brought him wide fame. Among them - "Thirteen" and "Lenin in October". Also, Mikhail Romm was engaged in teaching and published several books, including his research in the field of cinema.
