[Concurrent] Lang Jiaziyu, the third-generation inheritor of Beijing "Mianrenlang"

My name is Lang Jiaziyu, and I am the third-generation heir of the National Intangible Heritage Beijing "Mianrenlang". I am currently studying as a graduate student at the Art College of Peking University.

Dough sculpture actually originated very early. It itself originated from our sacrificial activities and dedicated it to people we respect or our ancestors.

The founder of "Mianrenlang" is my grandfather, and it has a history of 100 years.

I started to learn how to be a character formally with my dad when I was four or five years old. I found it very clever and interesting, so I was very interested and always liked watching.

[Explanation] "Ge Youtan", which combines current popular culture, and "I", which reflects the psychological state of young people...These facial sculpture works that are closely related to topics of public concern are all made by Lang Jiaziyu.

At the age of 25 this year, he has been making dough for more than 20 years.

[Explanation] A few days ago, Lang Jiaziyu said in an interview with reporters in the studio that as a young generation inheritor, we must not only study skills, but also innovate themes, and let this traditional craft "break the circle" through his works.

This work is by Academician Zhong Nanshan, with Huoshen Mountain on the left and Thunder Mountain on the right.

He stepped on the shape of the mountain in "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains". He wanted to make such a work to pay tribute to the elderly and all those who protected us in the fight against the epidemic.

From a creative perspective, it is more suitable for dissemination (works).

For example, some hot events, such as some topics that everyone cares about.

People who have made some movies are interested in this kind of big IP, such as Nezha, people we all want to pay tribute to during the epidemic, or these people we want to express gratitude.

In fact, it is also to allow the dough sculpture technology to reach more people.

First of all, it has to break the circle, let more people know it, and only if more people know it will it have a chance to be liked by more people.

[Explanation] This collision of trendy and tradition has won the love of many netizens.

In recent years, Lang Jiaziyu tried to spread his works through short videos and live broadcasts.

The feedback he received surprised him and gave him confidence in the way forward.

I also often see people making works and punch me in, and then many children say they want to learn.

So when the interested people were younger than me, I could meet a lot more people.

Secondly, I have indeed seen a lot of people trying to do (inheritance) this thing, he must be more than a face-to-face thing.

I feel that going back to tradition has become a cultural atmosphere, so I have confidence in the entire industry.

[Explanation] The most powerful brain player, a loyal basketball fan... In recent years, Lang Jiaziyu has tried new directions and has new hobbies.

He is about to graduate from graduate school, but he has no hesitation in choosing a career.

He hopes to use this craft to support himself, and also wants to continue to use his own efforts to continue the vitality of the traditional craft.

I think that as the inheritors of our younger generation, we must first continue to create very good works, works that can impress people of the times, continue to explore its value, and let more people know and understand.

I think the final state of the development of intangible cultural heritage is that it has become a normal state. It is once again familiar to many people. It can be removed from the title of endangered or heritage.

I think this is a good picture of the development of intangible cultural heritage.
