In the Alpes-Maritimes, hospitals under pressure are forced to transfer certain patients.

Europe 1 went to the Grasse hospital which has recorded a strong influx of patients in recent weeks.

Faced with the progression of the coronavirus epidemic, some hospitals have no choice but to transfer their patients and send them to other establishments, as was the case last spring or fall.

Currently, the situation is particularly worrying in the Alpes-Maritimes: the health authorities have validated the transfer of five patients to relieve the hospitals of Antibes and Grasse where Europe 1 went.

At Grasse hospital, the resuscitation teams are breathing.

Walid Ben Brahim, director of the hospital center, describes daily patient transfers, first with nearby clinics but also to other large hospitals.

"With the support of the Regional Health Agency", he explains.

One patient was notably evacuated to Marseille, saving a place.

Resuscitation beds remain occupied mostly by Covid patients.

"Breath of fresh air"

By the director's own admission, these transfers are a "breath of fresh air".

"The situation is very tense, for several days we have seen an increase in the number of Covid patients", he explains, adding that the establishment has gone from two to three admissions per day in December to eight to ten admissions. daily today.

"A flow that has more than tripled."

At the Grasse hospital center, of the 23 beds reserved for Covid patients, only two are still free.

The situation is identical in many hospitals in the Alpes-Maritimes where the services are saturated.
