The Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Dreyer, appeals to the Federal Government to provide financial support to people in particular need in the Corona crisis.

Special attention must be paid to children, single parents, the elderly, the long-term unemployed and the disabled, said the SPD politician.

These people are particularly dependent on social support and have additional financial worries due to the pandemic.

Dreyer argues that a corona subsidy could also cushion rising expenditure - for hygiene items, for example.

She called on the federal government, among other things, to make FFP2 masks available to recipients of basic security - as is also the case with particularly endangered groups of people.

"FFP2 masks shouldn't be a luxury item," said Dreyer.

On Tuesday, the federal and state governments decided, among other things, to tighten the mask requirement to contain the pandemic.

According to this, so-called surgical masks or mouth-nose covers with the standards KN95 / N95 or FFP2 are to be worn in public transport and in shops.
