Virologist Hendrik Streeck defended himself with clear words against a possible questioning by the AfD.
“There is no alternative to the current lockdown and the right way to reduce the number of infections.
The AFD is abusing the Expert Council and me by falsely claiming that we have declared the lockdown to have failed.
I will take all legal means against it, ”said Streeck on Twitter.
Previously, on Tuesday, the AfD called for the immediate termination of the restrictions in Germany and apparently also referred to the findings of the expert council in North Rhine-Westphalia, to which Streeck belonged - and cited it incorrectly.
The police broke up a church service in Essen on Thursday evening with almost 100 participants, 88 adults and 10 children.
The worshipers neither wore masks nor kept the prescribed distance, said a police spokesman on Friday.
There was also no list of participants.
The service was terminated immediately because of the "massive violations of the corona protection ordinance," said the police.
All participants were led out of the church.
Their identities had been established, the adults had received reports and would face fines, the police said.
According to the report, most of the church service participants come from Gelsenkirchen.
