In Hauts-de-France, a third of appointments in vaccination centers for the next fortnight must be canceled or rescheduled.

A situation that also affects the Alpes-Maritimes and Bas-Rhin and arouses criticism from local elected officials.

Despite the government's desire to speed up its vaccination campaign against the coronavirus, the first slowdowns have already been observed at the local level.

On Thursday, ARS Hauts-de-France told AFP that rescheduling of vaccination appointments was necessary, due to a lack of sufficient supply of doses.

And the situation affects other regions.

Thus, in Hauts-de-France, a third of the appointments made in the vaccination centers for the next 15 days must be canceled and rescheduled later.

"I can only phone within 15 days"

People over 75 who had managed, sometimes not without difficulty, to register for a vaccination session, are therefore currently receiving a phone call to tell them that it is postponed, like Jacqueline, a pensioner of 80 years.

"My appointment was for Thursday 4 pm. At 10:30 am, I was telephoned to tell me that the session was canceled", tells Europe 1 this resident of Marcq-en-Baroeul.

"I do not have an appointment, continues the octogenarian. I can only phone in the next 15 days-three weeks to try to get one."

However, getting vaccinated is very important for this retiree.

"It is urgent, because I have diabetes and lung problems," she says again, saying to herself today "at a standstill".

And to conclude, worried: "I do not know how I will be able to manage".

In Calais, the opening of a center postponed

In some cities such as Calais, 40% of requests will not be met by the end of the month for lack of sufficient vaccine stocks.

Moreover, in the first city of Pas-de-Calais, the opening of a new center scheduled for Thursday has been postponed for at least a week.

The only guarantee provided by the ARS: the appointments for the second vaccine injection are well maintained, the necessary dose reserves being ensured.

A situation affecting other regions

And this situation affects other regions.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, "deprogramming" was "made on appointments that have been made," said Thursday on France Bleu Azur the president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Renaud Muselier.

The town hall of Nice confirmed to AFP 250 reports between January 17 and 19.

On Tuesday, the ARS du Grand Est also reported that several centers in Bas-Rhin had to postpone their opening date by one week and reported a "postponement of vaccinations scheduled for Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 January".

Invited Thursday of the 8 pm of TF1, Olivier Véran recognized that if "in 95% of the cases, the things take place in a remarkable way", "that does not mean that everything is simple for everyone".

The Minister of Health explained "that a number of centers have overbooked", taking more appointments than doses available, but assured that "things will get back to normal".

Moreover, he added, "we are reopening 500,000 vaccination places between the middle and the end of February".
