On January 21, Shandong Qixia Gold Mine Incident Emergency Rescue Headquarters held a press conference.
Gong Haitao, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of Yantai Municipal Party Committee and director of the Information Office, briefed the rescue progress.
The headquarters had previously used various forms of obstacle clearance, but the degree of clogging of the shaft exceeded expectations, and the progress of obstacle clearance was relatively slow.
Experts estimate that there are still about 100 meters thick, 1,300 cubic meters, and 70 tons of obstacles from 350 meters to 446 meters in the shaft, and it will take at least 15 days for the rescue channel to open.
