It is not the big atmosphere between the unions at the moment in the city of Rennes.

Since January 14, a municipal police officer has been on a hunger strike.

He denounces the pressure and harassment exercised against him by certain FO Territoriaux union members, the majority union within the Rennes municipal police.

"He was told that he had to take his union card from FO otherwise he was going to experience misery," said Kristine Lesur, CGT secretary general in the city of Rennes.

Following his refusal to join FO, the municipal police officer, unionized for a year at the CGT, allegedly suffered derogatory remarks from his colleagues and was sidelined within the service.

The agent in question did attempt to alert the judicial authorities to the facts of harassment of which he claims to be a victim, but his complaint was dismissed.

He has been on sick leave since October, so he went on a hunger strike to alert his superiors.

"He wants to be recognized as a victim by his employer and return to another city service," said Kristine Lesur, who came to support him this Thursday morning in front of the management of the municipal police in Rennes.

The striking police officer must be received at the town hall

Questioned, the FO Territoriaux union refutes any pressure.

"The union does not recognize itself in these accusations", indicates Jérôme Jourdan, secretary of the FO union in the city of Rennes.

"We do not exclude anyone within the municipal police and everyone is free to join or not to a union", he continues, specifying that the striking agent had joined FO for a time "before resigning in the month of August ”.

To shed light on this affair, Jérôme Jourdan will request the opening of an investigation by the health, safety and working conditions committee (CHSCT) "to see if the alleged facts are established".

The municipal police officer on hunger strike should be received by Friday by elected officials from Rennes.
