At the crossroads of worlds is Marie Plassard.

A universe where song, pop and hip-hop naturally intermingle, in which the 24-year-old singer and pianist reveals her moods with her crystalline voice.

After being known in adolescence with covers of Mac Tyer or Britney Spears on YouTube, the young woman took the time to find herself, and especially not to choose.

“I have always mixed everything up, it was not a choice to be made,” she told

20 Minutes

.

This Friday, Marie Plassard unveils part of this universe through the eight titles of

Spleen

.

An EP which, as its name suggests, bathes in melancholy, and in love wounds.

A first project where we also find the multiple influences of the singer.

From rap to lyrical singing

If one looks for his name in a search engine, it is on the rap media side that we find the most occurrences.

Notably because Marie made a remarkable foray into this genre with the feat

No Love

with rapper Dinos, but also because rap colors its own music.

“I have always been immersed in the urban environment and rap because I listened to it when I was younger,” she explains.

I was a fan of Booba when I was as tall as three apples and I did not understand the texts!

We thus find rap in some of its rhythms, but also in its phrasing, sometimes spoken, sometimes sung.

Added to this are singing and the piano which she studied for a short time at the conservatory, and all the genres that she listens to and loves.

"I also love to put lyrical hearts, a lot of reverb, I also like soul, trip-hop ... I don't want to choose at all and I hope that I will keep this side a little eclectic" , she assumes.

It is these multiple facets that appealed to his manager Oumar Samaké.

"It makes her really atypical," says the producer and founder of the SPKTAQLR label.

We don't want to lead her in a specific direction, but that all her influences come together in her music and that she not be stuck in a single niche.

"Hence the collaborations with artists like Dinos, whom Oumar Samaké also represents.

“Marie, I see her doing a feat with Julien Doré as well as with Dinos.

She is able to marry the two universes.

In France we did not necessarily have many artists of this profile and I encourage him to continue in this direction ”.

A melancholy dive

For this first EP, it is the path of melancholy that Marie Plassard has chosen to explore.

A state of mind in which she was immersed during the development of her EP, which she wanted to be a deep blue, from the first title to the last.

"I really wanted to condense all that in the same project, I did not want to mix more joyful songs in it, it was not me and it was not sincere", specifies the artist.

The songs, around love for many, are indeed rather dark, while being delicate and airy.

A title,

Itinerary of a tear

, is reminiscent of the farmerian universe.

“I was told a lot and I also find that it looks a bit like Mylène Farmer on the chorus, she admits.

She is an artist that I admire, her career is incredible, I love her mysterious, very sensual side… She is a powerful woman ”.

And unclassifiable, a point in common with Marie.

Just like a little mystical side, which we can find in the singer's voice, but also in her taste for cards, which she likes to question sometimes.

“I like it, I'm a very intuitive person, it's really important to me.

I love trying to understand what we cannot see, the energies… After that it is not divinatory, it has nothing to do with clairvoyance, it is rather a way of materializing my intuition, and sometimes when I have a doubt I look a little.

But I am not Madame Irma!

», She laughs.

If the paths to success are impenetrable, our little finger tells us that Marie Plassard is well on the way to making it a little further.
